Camarillo Hospice celebrates 30 years Camarillo Hospice started its 30th birthday year with an annual meeting. Carole Wadsworth, director of counseling services, and Janine Coronado, director of volunteer services, spoke to the group about the benefits of hospice care and shared program highlights, including patient and client stories illustrating the positive impact the programs and services of Camarillo Hospice can have on individual lives. The treasurer's report highlighted the year's fundraising by the organization, which is a nonprofit volunteer hospice and grief support center providing free services to the community. In 2007 Camarillo Hospice received 26 grants from a variety of foundations, as well as grants from Affinity Bank, Catholic Healthcare West, Channel Islands Gulls, city of Camarillo, city of Oxnard Senior Services, Driscoll Strawberry Associates Inc., Heffernan Insurance Brokers and IICF, Imation, Leisure Village Women's Club, May and Stanley Smith Trust, Meadowlark Service League and Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern California. In acknowledging the staff and volunteers of Camarillo Hospice, special recognition was given to Gary Norris, who retired from the board after almost 13 years of service, and Jackie Kerr, for her accomplishments as president of the board in 2007. At the regular monthly board meeting which followed, Randy Churchill was elected president of the board for 2008. Jackie Kerr and Christopher Smith were elected vice presidents; Betty Bright was elected secretary, and John Laubacher was elected treasurer.
