Be wary of 809 area code phone scam
      Periodically, e-mails warning of a scam involving calls from the 809 area code circulate. The e-mails contend that there has been fraud associated with unscrupulous payper-call operators in that area code.

Las Posas Elementary School awarded technology grant

      The Barona Band of Mission Indians awarded a $5,000 technology grant to Las Posas Elementary School recently. The money will be used to buy electronic whiteboards, projectors and rolling carts for the school's two fifth-grade classrooms.
