Pleasant Valley School District to clean up its act Little has changed over the years when it comes to cleaning products and procedures. But for students, teachers, parents and staff of the Pleasant Valley School District, a new attitude toward health and safety is taking shape. With a new generation of safe and effective antimicrobial cleaning products available, PVSD is taking a methodical approach in introducing them in the district. Craig Logsdon, director of facilities, maintenance and operations for the Pleasant Valley School District, confirmed last year that the district's cleaning procedures have been the same for many years and that it was time for a change. The district staff held a meeting on how they could implement a new cleaning procedure that would use earth-friendly cleaning products and include antimicrobial cleaning agents and equipment. Some of the changes taking place include the substitution of traditional dust mops with new mops that use microfiber technology to trap materials associated with asthma and allergies. HEPA filtered backpack vacuum cleaners are also being used, and the district has replaced all hand soap with antimicrobial hand soap and waterless antimicrobial hand sanitizer.
