Latin artwork comes to SCIART

SCIART West will present "Life, Death and Ritual in Modern Latin American Art," a collection curated by Ann Bittl, beginning Feb. 23.

There will be a reception from 4 to 6 p.m. Sat., March 1 at the gallery, 519 South C St. in Oxnard.

Themes explored in the exhibit include life, death, ritual, passion, social criticism, nationalist discourse, gender and selffashioning, realism and surrealism, and revolution.

The gallery's hours are 1 to 4 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays, or by appointment.
