Money should stay in district

In regards to the Feb. 8 article "Education foundation gives $17,000 to Camarillo schools," I didn't really want to weigh in on this issue because many of the teachers in Pleasant Valley benefit from the grants given by the Pleasant Valley Education Foundation.

However, the fact that it was PVSD that gave the foundation its financial start should mean that the money should go to PVSD schools. I'm quite sure that was the district's intention when it initially gave the foundation funding.

Unfortunately this year, teachers outside the district, specifically those who work at the Camarillo Academy of Progressive Education, were awarded a large chunk of the grant money, a disproportionate amount.

Giving district money to teachers outside the district just doesn't seem right. Suzann Zeigler Camarillo Zeigler is president of the Pleasant Valley Education Association
