Audubon offers variety of field trips in March
Activities include bird feeder project

The Ventura Audubon Society announces its field trips for March.

•Restoration Work Day will be from 8 a.m. to noon Sun., March 2 at Hedrick Ranch Nature Area in Santa Paula. Birding will begin at 8 a.m. and work will start at 9 a.m. Participants should wear sturdy shoes and gardening gloves. For more information, call Sandy Hedrick at (805) 340-0478.

•A drilling party will take place at 9 a.m. Sat., March 8 at 4499 Whittier St. in Ventura. Attendees will drill holes for the bird feeder project for Earth Day in Oxnard. For information, call Art Marshall at (805) 642-1585.

•The Orange County Weekend Birding trip will take place Fri. through Sun., March 14 to 16. Start times and meeting places vary. For more information, call Judy Dugan at (805) 283-4272 or Marianne Slaughter at (805) 402-0174.

•Jack Gillooly will lead a onemile hike at 8:30 a.m. Sat., March 22 at Lake Los Carneros in Goleta. The group will see latewinter feeding flocks, early spring migrants, raptors and ducks. For more information, call Gillooly at (805) 646-3867.

•Allen Bertke will lead a beginner's walk from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Lake Casitas. Look for heron, egrets, ducks, grebes, bluebirds and woodpeckers. For information, call Bertke at (805) 640-9037.
