We're interested in Main Street, not Wall Street

The Camarillo Acorn tries hard to make local news, events, organizations and residents its focus each week. Our bottom line has been- and always will be- if it's happening in Camarillo, we want to know about it.

That's what makes reading a community newspaper so much fun. Readers recognize the folks in the pictures we take and in the stories we write.

We all know that Camarillo is a special place to live, but it's also a great place to work. Home to a wide variety of companies, both large and small, Camarillo's business community offers just about anything one could imagine.

That's why the Camarillo Acorn continues to encourage residents to shop locally. Money spent in local businesses, shops and restaurants goes right back into the city's economy.

In an effort to help promote local businesses, the Camarillo Acorn invites Camarillo companies to submit their "Business Brief," a short article that gives businesses an opportunity to announce an award, a promotion, a new location or an innovative product or service. A Business Brief should be no longer than 200 words and should include the business' name, location and phone number.

Don't forget, the Camarillo Acorn will also continue "Homegrown in Camarillo," a series of occasional articles featuring family owned businesses in Camarillo and the Pleasant Valley area. The stories will typically focus on multigenerational family businesses either based or begun in Camarillo.

We welcome readers to submit names of local family businesses that prove the entrepreneurial spirit of mom and pop shops is alive and well.

So, Camarillo business owners, consider this your invitation. We want to know about you and your company because we're interested in the business on Main Street, not on Wall Street.
