Superior Court opens family resource center

The Ventura Superior Court has opened the Family Resource Center in Room 206 on the second floor of the Juvenile Courthouse, 4353 Vineyard Ave. in Oxnard.

Self-represented litigants may obtain and complete court forms, conduct research, attend workshops, read self-help manuals and obtain information on the law, procedure and legal process in the areas of divorce, paternity, custody and support issues, domestic violence, guardianships and step-parent adoption.

Two-hour workshops will be offered at 2 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Monday workshops will discuss domestic violence restraining order assistance. Wednesday workshops cover beginning a divorce or legal separation. Friday workshops will be on guardianship orientation.

Monday and Friday workshops will be in English and Spanish. Wednesday workshops are in Spanish only.

The center is staffed by bilingual assistants. Attorneys will be on-site for workshops only.

The center opens at 9 a.m. Monday through Friday for selfhelp services. It closes at 1 p.m. on days when workshops are offered and at 4 p.m. on other days.
