Cub Scout given Heroism Award

Kadin Mello, a Camarillo Webelos Scout, received the Boy Scouts of America Heroism Award Sat., Feb. 9 at the Cub Scout Pack 3831 Blue and Gold Dinner.
In August of last year Mello saved the life of his grandmother, who nearly drowned at Lake of the Springs in Northern California. He was able to keep his grandmother calm and, with assistance from his father, get her to shore.
The National Court of Honor recognizes, with Lifesaving and Meritorious Action awards, Scouts and adult leaders who attempt to save a life or lives with an accompanying measure of risk to self or noble acts of service that need not involve attempts of rescue or risk to self but put into practice Scouting skills and ideals.
