Where's the music, man?

I am writing in regard to the fact that Camarillo has no music stores. This is an issue that has been troubling me for the past few years. Sadly, the closest place where anyone can browse through a decent selection of CDs would be Salzers in Ventura.

The only place where any music can even be bought in Camarillo would have to be at stores like Target or Kmart. However, as any music-lover will tell you, the music selection at large chain store is extremely superficial. Their selection is limited to simply the most popular releases.

Sure, they sell your basic Top 20, but large stores don't carry anything much deeper than that.

I am aware that a new shopping center will possibly be constructed next to the Home Depot shopping center. While the finishing of this area is still far into the future, I ask the Camarillo City Council to please consider giving some type of music store a spot there. As a teenager, it is incredibly inconvenient for me to drive to Ventura whenever I'd like to purchase a CD. However, this is what I've had to do for the past few years.

Keep in mind I'm not asking you to bring a Best Buy or some huge store to Camarillo. A small store, with a good selection of music would be completely acceptable.

A store like this would become the central place to purchase music in Camarillo. Throw in a unique beverage shop, and it could become a place to hang-out and relax with friends on the weekend.

I urge you, as this new shopping center gets built, to please consider putting a record store somewhere in Camarillo, whether in that area or not! I know that myself and others would be very grateful to have a store like that in this wonderful city. Andrew Sandahl Camarillio
