CommunityBriefsHEALTH Arts 4 Heart hosts exhibit Soroptimist International will hold the second annual Art 4 Heart event from 3 to 6 p.m. Sun., Feb. 10 at the Courtyard Marriott, 600 E. Esplanade Drive in Oxnard. The event will feature exhibits by local artists, fine wine, gourmet food, and live and silent auctions. Tickets cost $75. Proceeds from the event will benefit the St. John's Regional Medical Center and St. John's Pleasant Valley Hospital Healthcare Foundation. Free seminar scheduled A free seminar on osteoporosis will be presented at 10 a.m. Fri., Feb. 22 at AlmaVia of Camarillo, 2500 Ponderosa Drive North. The seminar will be lead by Steve Lehman, manager of SCAN Senior Resource Center, who will discuss the definition and cause of osteoporosis, risk factors for developing the disease, facts related to the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis, and questions that can be used when talking to healthcare providers. Hacker earns fellowship The American College of Healthcare Executives, a professional society for healthcare leaders, has awarded Fellow status to Robert L. Hacker, director of facilities management at St. John's Regional Medical Center and St. John's Pleasant Valley Hospital. Fellow status represents achievement of the highest standard of professional development. Only 5,400 healthcare executives hold the distinction. To obtain Fellow status, candidates must fulfill multiple requirements, including passing a comprehensive examination, meeting academic and experiential criteria, earning continuing education credits and demonstrating professional and community involvement. Fellows are also committed to ongoing professional development and undergo recertification every three years. Extended hours The Camarillo office of the Alzheimer's Association will be open additional hours the first Saturday of every month, beginning Feb. 2 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The extra hours will help reach caregivers who are not able to visit during regular business hours. The Alzheimer's Association offers free and low-cost programs and services, such as public education about Alzheimer's, respite for caregivers, support groups and library services.
