Hobby shop robbed Police arrested two Oxnard men men Tuesday after they allegedly stole merchandise from a Camarillo hobby store and tried to run over the store's manager. Vincent Lopez, 25, and 20yearold Christopher Cate allegedly shoplifted items atThe Hobby People in the 1700 block of Daily Drive at 11:30 a.m. Jan. 15, police said. Police said the store manager followed the men outside and they attempted to run him over with their vehicle. To avoid serious injury, the hobby shop manager jumped onto the vehicle's hood , then off when the men drove away, according to police. A witness to the incident called police and followed the fleeing vehicle to the Spanish Hills area. A sheriff's deputy spotted the vehicle near Spanish Hills Country Club, where he arrested Cate, who gave himself up. Lopez, a parolee with outstanding warrants for failing to register as a sex offender, fled on foot but was later arrested after a Ventura County sheriff's helicopter, detectives and patrol deputies searched the area. Yesterday, Cate and Lopez both pleaded not guilty and remain in Ventura main jail on multiple felony charges. Cate's bail was set at $100,000 and no bail was set for Lopez.
