Contractors group gives $10,000 locally The Ventura County Contractors Association made $10,000 in donations to various local charities in 2007. "Food, Clothing, Shelter and Health" is the thrust for the VCCA's Community Contributions Program. The committee in charge of the 2007 effort was chaired by Evonne Silvestri, who was assisted by Tommy Tatangelo, association vice president, and businessperson Bill Huff. The committee receives input from the association's board of directors, selecting groups that would benefit from available funds. Money distributed last year was raised primarily through the association's annual golf tournament. Recipients of funds include: •Long Term Care Services of Ventura County Inc. Ombudsman Program helps assure high quality care for elderly living in long- term care facilities throughout Ventura County. •Ojai and Santa Paula Meals on Wheels provide food to people who cannot leave their homes due to age, infirmity or recuperation after hospitalization. •Camarillo Health Care District focuses on maximizing health and wellness in the community through prevention, screening, education and support. •Ventura County Rescue Mission provides food, shelter and clothing to the poor, needy and homeless.
