But his dream of success would prove more daunting than he could have imagined: The young immigrant lived in a cardboard box for months after arriving in Los Angeles.

YMCA welcomes families to breakfast
      The Camarillo Family YMCA will host a breakfast with Santa Claus for children from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Sat., Dec. 6 at the Y, 3111 Village at the Park Drive, Camarillo. Cost is $10 per child and includes breakfast, craft and picture with Santa.

Winery the place to be next Sunday
      A "Christmas in Camarillo" open house and wine tasting will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sat. and Sun., Dec. 6 and 7 at Camarillo Custom Crush Winery, 300 S. Lewis Road, Ste. C, Camarillo. The event is for adults only, and will feature wines from vineyards throughout California, including Topanga Canyon, the Santa Monica Mountains and Malibu.
