Renovation moves forward for historic barn
      The Camarillo Ranch barn, one of the oldest and most historic landmarks in the city, will undergo renovations costing $643,376. The 103-year-old barn, which has been used as a storage facility in recent years, will be refurbished so it can be used to host indoor events. The City Council awarded the bid for renovations during last week's regular meeting.

Flannigan moves to Camarillo post
ACHS grad takes command at academy
      A new police captain has been assigned to oversee patrol services in Ventura County's unincorporated areas, including Oak Park, Lake Sherwood, Hidden Valley, Lynn Ranch, Bell Canyon and parts of Newbury Park. Capt. Bill Flannigan and Capt. Brent Kerr of the Ventura County Sheriff's Department are switching jobs.

Bank ramps up recycling program
      A recycling pilot program at Santa Barbara Bank & Trust is well on its way to keeping as much as eight tons of waste out of a landfill. The company had no formal recycling program in place for its 1,400 employees until it began developing one with the city of Santa Barbara about this time last year.

See glass jewelry
      Glass artist Dolores Barrett's fifth annual studio jewelry show will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sat., Nov. 22 at Camarillo Church of the Nazarene, 2280 Antonio Drive, Camarillo. Barrett will display her jewelry and new creations. Work by handmade book artist Mardel Burns will also be exhibited.

Pruning seminar
      Baron Brothers Nursery will host a fruit tree and rose pruning seminar at 10 a.m. Sat., Nov. 22 at the nursery, 7568 Santa Rosa Road, Camarillo. The seminar will have a question and answer segment. There will also be drawings for soil amendments, fertilizers and seeds.
