Likes Lisagor

We have an opportunity in District 3 to elect an unusually qualified candidate for the County Board of Education this year: Dr. Mark Lisagor. Candidates with his level of expertise and positive record of leadership and service don't come around often.

Unlike many politicians, he is not looking for personal gain from this election. He already has his doctorate, family and successful pediatric "spaceship" dental practice with offices throughout the county. He has been recognized many times for volunteer service at local as well as international levels—at the Boys & Girls Club, CSUCI, First Five, Interface, scholarship committees, Academic Olympics, Juvenile Justice, post-Katrina and international relief dental clinics and many more. He is an awardwinning problem solver who avoids politics, knowing that politics often impede getting things done and come with uncomfortable emphases on individuals instead of issues.

Right now, however, the problem that needs to be solved is the poor performance and wasteful spending of our current board. The clearest example is the $20,000 a month of our money being spent on two consultants who have contributed to local politicians' campaigns but no beneficial services to our schools.

Such abuses have compelled Dr. Mark Lisagor to take on the burdens of campaigning and politics in order to have the opportunity to right those wrongs and refocus our board on improving our county schools. It is our job to make sure he gets that opportunity. If anyone can do it, he can.
