'As You Like It' is far-out '70s flashback
      Forsooth and far out! The 12th season of the Kingsmen Shakespeare Festival kicked off last weekend with the frothy comedy "As You Like It," directed by Kevin P. Kern in his festival directorial debut. The Bard's classic words are accompanied by music and clothing from the 1970s and performed outdoors at California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks.

Radio show featuring local man wins award
      Every Now and Then Theatre's 2007 Christmas radio adaptation of Charles Dickens' "Christmas Carol: A Ghost Story" has won an International OMNI Silver Award for radio entertainment. The program starred Keith Hurt from Camarillo as Scrooge.

Community band will play at park
      The Camarillo Community Band will be joined by the Pacific Coast Highlander Pipe Band at the concert scheduled for 7 p.m. Thurs., July 31 at Constitution Park in Camarillo.

'Pippin' on hold
      The Camarillo Community Theater will not hold a performance of "Pippin" tonight, Fri., July 4, due to the holiday. There will be performances at 8 p.m. tomorrow, Sat., July 5, and at 2 p.m. Sun., July 6. Audience members wearing red, white and blue will be given a free bag of popcorn at the snack bar.

Dancing stallions will perform
      The World Famous Lipizzaner Stallions will present the 38th anniversary show of the "dancing white stallions" for one performance only at 7:30 p.m. Thurs., July 10 at the Pacific Arena, Ventura County Fairgrounds/Seaside Park, 10 W. Harbor Blvd., Ventura.

      The deadline to submit artwork to the Camarillo Art and Jazz Festival is Tues., July 15. Entry categories include painting, photography, jewelry, sculpture, ceramics, fiber, glass, metal, wood, collage and pastels.
