Mark earns induction into soccer Hall of Fame
Camarillo resident has volunteered in youth soccer organization for 24 years
      In 1984 soccer standout Hugo Perez made his national team debut for the United States. The midfielder would go on to score 13 international goals and become one of the finest playmakers in USA history. That same year, Camarillo resident Joel Mark also began an involvement with soccer that would reach a national level.

Baseball All-Star showcase on tap
      The Jim Parker High School Baseball All-Star Game is scheduled for Sunday at 1:20 p.m. at Conejo Creek Ballpark in Thousand Oaks. Zach Miller of Westlake will coach the East team, while Ventura's Paul Togneri will coach the West. The home run derby and baserunning contests will start at 10:45 a.m.

Wood Ranch BBQ & Grill having fundraiser for USA Men's Water Polo Team
      As the Beijing Olympics draw closer, all 11 Wood Ranch BBQ & Grill restaurants will be making a big splash with the USA Men's Water Polo Team. For one night only, on Wed., June 18, Wood Ranch will contribute a portion of its receipts to help raise funds for the USA team, which had been training daily in Thousand Oaks.

      The Pacific View League has announced its All-League teams in baseball, softball, boys' tennis, boys' golf and boys' volleyball. Many area athletes were recognized for their accomplishments during the year.
