Camarillo High to say goodbye to school resource officer
Niebergall's assignment to end; his reserve unit is expected to be deployed overseas
      Adolfo Camarillo High School will soon see a changing of the guard. Dep. Gary Niebergall has finished his three-year assignment as the school resource officer and will leave on July 25.

School board to host special meeting on $1.7-million district budget cuts
Public invited to attend
      The Pleasant Valley School District will hold a special board meeting Thurs., May 29 to decide how best to reduce its budget by $1.7 million for the 2008-09 school year. The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. at City Hall Council Chambers, 601 N. Carmen Drive, Camarillo.

District appoints new principals for two elementary schools
      The Pleasant Valley School District has appointed new principals to its Camarillo Heights and El Descano School campuses. Elizabeth Silverman, an elementary school principal serving the Simi Valley School District for the last nine years, will be taking the reins at Camarillo Heights Elementary School.

Rio Mesa renames pool
Phillips, former principal, to be honored
      Rio Mesa High's community pool is being renamed in honor of Ed Phillips, the former principal who died after suffering a heart attack during a school football game in 2004. The Ed Phillips Rio Mesa Community Aquatics Center will be dedicated during a ceremony at 4 p.m. Mon., June 9 at the school, 545 Central Ave., Oxnard.
