Lemon Fest poster contest news
      Pacific View Mall has announced the deadline for the 2008 Lemon Fest Poster Contest will be Sun., June 15. Entries are open to all ages and abilities. Poster entries should be no larger than 13.25 by 19.75 inches vertical format. No framed artwork will be accepted. All forms of medium will be considered if compatible for reproduction.

      California Heat Volleyball Club is accepting applications for its summer volleyball camps. Fiesta committee needs golf carts
      The Camarillo Street Fair and Fiesta planning committee needs six golf carts for its annual event July 11 to 13. The organizers need the golf carts to either be donated or rented at a reasonable rate. Mike Morgan, event cochair, said the golf carts are needed because of the size of the event's venue.

Charity teaches youngsters art of sailing
      Heart of Sailing is a charity that teaches sailing to children with special needs as a form of recreational therapy. George Saidah, a software entrepreneur who was motivated by his personal experience with a loved one who had a cognitive disorder, founded the charity in 2004.

Ranch house hosts workshop
      The Camarillo Ranch House will host a hands-on living wreath workshop from 9 a.m. to noon Sat., June 14 at the house, 201 Camarillo Ranch Road. Each participant will receive a 15-inch ready-to-plant wreath and succulents to start it. Wreaths may be supplemented with pansies, lettuce, herbs, tomatoes and other plants.

Tip-a-Cop event comes to Oxnard
      A Tip-a-Cop event for the 2007 Law Enforcement Torch Run campaign will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Tues., May 27 at Dominick's Italian Restaurant, 477 N. Oxnard Blvd., Oxnard. The Tip-a-Cop events are held to support the Special Olympics Ventura County.
