Ceremony for families who have lost children
      Conejo Mountain Funeral Home, Memorial Park and Crematory, in conjunction with the Ventura County Chapter of the Compassionate Friends, will host a balloon ceremony for families who have lost children. The ceremony will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sat., Feb. 9 at the funeral home, 2052 Howard Road in Camarillo.

Pony league late sign-ups
      Late registration for Camarillo Pony Baseball for players ages 5 to 19 will end this Sunday. All players ages 7 to 14 must attend the skills ratings at either 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sat., Jan. 19, or 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sun., Jan. 20 at the baseball fields at the corner of Temple and Ponderosa.

Families win big with Boys & Girls Club contest
      Four local families recently won a total of $17,000 in the first early bird drawing for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme's House of Ten Thousand Dreams Home Raffle. Tai Kim of Oxnard was the top winner, taking home $10,000 just before Christmas to his wife and two small children, who he says will be future club members.
