New assistant superintendent named for PVSD

Linda Bekeny will be the assistant superintendent of fiscal and administrative services for the Pleasant Valley School District.

The district announced last week that Bekeny will fill the administrative post vacated by Jan Maez, who left in October for a similar job with the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District. Maez had held the position for six years.

In the interim, the district hired Gary Mortimer to serve as temporary assistant superintendent.

"It's time for me to move onto a new district, and I think Camarillo will be a good place," said Bekeny, who's been director of fiscal services for the Rio School District for the last three and a half years.

Prior to that, Bekeny worked for several years as an accounting supervisor for the Conejo Valley Unified School District.

Her first day on the job for Pleasant Valley has yet to be determined.
