Rex Kern, former quarterback for Ohio State University, was not the third-string quarterback during the 1971 Hula Bowl as reported in the Dec. 14 Camarillo Acorn. He was, in fact, one of three quarterbacks, including Jim Plunkett and Joe Theismann, who rotated at the position during the game. Kern went on to play as a defensive back during the allstar game following an injury to his team's starting safety.
