County warns of fake healthcare worker
Man goes door-to-door offering women exams

The Ventura County Health Care Agency recently learned that the Oxnard Police Department is investigating two cases of a Hispanic male in his mid20s going door-to-door and identifying himself as a "county medical worker" in order to gain access into homes.

The suspect is providing women with Ventura County Medical Center brochures and/ or marketing materials and explaining that in order for them to keep or gain medical benefits, such as WIC or Medi-Cal, he must perform a physical exam on them.

The Health Care Agency states that there would never be a situation in which a county employee would show up, unannounced, at anyone's home for the purpose of performing a medical exam.

If approached by someone making such a request, call 911 immediately.

For information on WIC program eligibility or policies, call (805) 981-5251. For questions regarding Medi-Cal program eligibility or policies, call (805) 477-5100.

The Ventura County Health Care Agency issued a statement that the agency "is dismayed that someone would use the guise of a healthcare worker in order to perpetrate a crime in our community."

If anyone has any information regarding these crimes, call Detective Sonya Sanchez at (805) 385-7609.
