Boutique owner makes buying local easy

IRIS SMOOT/Acorn Newspapers
FASHIONABLE DAY- Beau Alexis boutique employee Hayley Redburn fastens a bracelet around the wrist of Westlake Village resident Jenna Nuzback at the Holiday Boutique Day in Camarillo. The day, organized by Beau Alexis owner Beau Franlkin, encouraged Camarillo residents to shop locally by providing a venue for many local vendors to sell their products under one roof. "I'm from Los Angeles, and I was always being invited to these types of events," Franklin said. "Then I moved to Camarillo, and there was nothing like this here. So I decided to host one of my own." Franklin rented out a vacant shop and invited 14 Camarillo-based companies offering makeup, clothing, shoes, jewelry, and even cosmetic surgery to set up booths in the rented space. Due to the success of the event, Frankling plans on moving to a larger venue next year.
