Weekend of birthdays
      When I was younger my parents just dropped us kids off at our friends' birthday parties then picked us up when the party was over. Not today's generation. My 4-year-old was invited to four birthday parties last weekend. By today's standards, us parents were expected to attend.

Salsa dips on tap for middle schoolers

      Eighth graders at University Charter Middle School are learning more than conjugating verbs in Danna Lomax's Spanish class. Dozens of 13- and 14-year-olds in all three eighth-grade classes have been taking 10 weeks of professional salsa dance lessons as part of the Spanish curriculum.

      Amy Carr and Joey Sander, students at Las Colinas Middle School, were named winners in the Camarillo Republican Women's Club essay contest with the theme "Should the President be a native-born American?" The contest was open to Camarillo eighthgraders.

Trinity Presbyterian Church will host performance
