Donate a toy, stay for a family friendly movie

Rio School District students who participate in the school's Salvation Army holiday toy drive will have the chance to watch a free screening of the film "A Plumm Summer" at 2 p.m. Sat., Dec. 8 in the multipurpose rooms at Rio Vista Middle School and Rio Del Mar Elementary School on Thames River Drive in Oxnard.

The movie presentation is open to the public. Admission is free for each family who brings an unwrapped new toy.

"A Plumm Summer" is a children's movie about two young brothers who go head-to-head with the FBI to crack the kidnapping case of the TV puppet, Froggy Doo.

Lisa Guerrero, a sportscaster on "Inside Edition," and her husband, Scott Erickson, a former Minnesota Twins baseball player, produced the film. They will attend the screening, along with Brenda Strong and many of the child actors from the movie.

Guerrero will give away Froggy Doo items to the children who attend.

The Salvation Army toy drive runs through the end of the year.
