Symposium to address nursing shortage
Public invited to free event

A symposium titled "Ventura County Nursing Crisis: Education and Community Responses" will take place from 8 to 11 a.m. today, Fri., Nov. 16 at the Ventura County Office of Education.

The event is free and open to the public, but reservations are required. Breakfast will be served.

The symposium is part of the Ventura Nursing Legacy Project, a grant program funded through the Partners Investing in Nursing's Future initiative by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and Northwest Health Foundation.

Cal State Channel Islands and the Ventura County Community Foundation are the hosts of the symposium.

A representative from the office of U.S. Rep. Lois Capps (DPort Hueneme) will provide the keynote address. Capps represents California's 23rd District, which includes Ventura County.

The symposium also will feature recognized speakers presenting national, state and local perspectives on regional priority nursing issues.

CSUCI will offer 2.5 continuing education contact hours for registered nurses only.
