It's a street name that deserves respect.

The Camarillo City Council renamed Nellora Street to Veterans Way during a Veterans Day ceremony on Sunday in Old Town.

The renaming came after an Aug. 7 request from the American Legion's Camarillo Post 741, asking the city to rename the short street that leads off Ventura Boulevard and runs in front of the local American Legion building.

American Legion officials, Mayor Jan McDonald and Ventura County Supervisor Kathy Long were on hand for the afternoon event.

The City Council approved the name change during a Sept. 26 council meeting.
