Rio Mesa band takes first

OOM PAH PAH- Rio Mesa High School freshman and marching band member Scott Raymond, 14, plays the tuba during a recent band competition at Oxnard High School. Along with the school's percussion section, the Rio Mesa marching band took first place in the competition. The color guard team took second place. Rio Mesa is ranked No. 1 in the Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association's 1A Division. The band will compete against 36 other high school bands tomorrow at Moorpark High School to qualify for the division championships in December.
