Cornerstone Christian preps for first-ever playoff game

The Cornerstone Christian football team is going to the playoffs.

In only their second year playing in eight-man football, the Eagles, who posted a 5-3 overall record and a 4-1 mark in the Omega League, have qualified for the CIF-Southern Section Division II postseason.

Cornerstone Christian plays North County Christian (81, 31 in the Coast Valley League) tonight at 7 p.m. at Rio Mesa High.

The Eagles are led by freshman quarterback Willie Kudera (1,404 yards, 23 TDs), senior running back/linebacker John Rossie (1,083 rushing yards, 15 TDs and 92 tackles) and senior wideout/kicker/defensive back Jordan Bridges (11 TDs).
