Runners post solid results

The Ventura County Cross Country Championships took place in Lake Casitas last Friday and many local athletes ran well.

Camarillo High was fast on the boys' side, coming in fourth place with a time of 1:23.43, about three minutes behind winner Oak Park High.

Leading the way for ACHS was freshman Heyden Wooff, who came in ninth place with a mark of 16:13.78. Wooff's senior teammates, Evan Gravelle and Joey Elkins, placed No. 25 and No. 26, respectively.

Rio Mesa High finished seventh with a combined time of 1:24.14. Spartan Gabriel Soliz finished a second behind Wooff with a time of 16:14.87. Other RMHS runners that contributed included junior Matthew Tao (No. 20) and senior Spencer Enriquez (No. 51).

The girls' team for Rio Mesa finished 13th with a time of 1:46:06. The top runner for the Spartans was junior Hana Llata (20:39.32).

The ACHS girls were seventh with a time of 1:42:43.

Senior Cassie Broker led ACHS with a time of 19:11.43, good for ninth. Laura Lucas was 33rd with a time of 20:20.77.

The Pacific View League championships were held yesterday at College Park. - Thomas Gase
