Atria residents fire back at union

We, the Executive Resident Council at Atria Las Posas in Camarillo, wish to respond to the inflammatory advertisement published in the Camarillo Acorn by the SEIU union against our home. We resent these accusations and are outraged by the union's meanspirited and ridiculous effort to portray our home so negatively. We chose this home because of the promises that were made to us, and those promises have been kept.

We wish to state that the quality of our care staff is so great that we have become very attached to them. Atria promotes a system that has resident ambassadors who acquaint new residents with their surroundings so that no resident will feel isolated or feel that any concern about care and service cannot be addressed. Our dining facility is beautiful, hearty, healthy and clean. The residents feel safe, as they have radio signal pendants that instantly notify our loving and professional staff in case of any emergency.

The SEIU union bombards us with mailings each week. We believe that these mailings are designed to confuse us since Atria's staff also sends us surveys asking us to please let them know of any grievances so that they may address them. We consider the behavior of the SEIU union bizarre and malicious. We love our staff and care providers and fail to see how any organization that says nasty things about them is going to help them or us. We say that SEIU union is out of line with their newspaper advertisement. We speak for ourselves. We love it here. Ladd Rucker Atria Las Posas Resident Council president
