Grant will help nurses to return to workforce

Livingston Memorial Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice has received a $25,000 grant from the Weingart Foundation, with an additional $25,000 matching grant opportunity.

The funds will be used to support the Accelerated Home Care Registered Nurse Internship, a program that trains inactive nurses for the workforce.

The 16-week internship is for registered nurses who have not practiced clinical nursing for five or more years.

The intent of the program is to train 12 nurses annually and employ them for at least one year. Grant funds will help pay enough to put three interns through the program.

The $25,000 matching grant requires that Livingston raise $25,000 from other private sources. Weingart Foundation will match up to the first $25,000 received.

To contribute to the internship, send funds to Livingston Nurse Re-entry, 1996 Eastman Ave., Ventura, CA 93003.

For more information, call Marc Wilde, (805) 642-0239, ext. 603.
