Between Aug. 22 and Oct. 16, a Camarillo couple was conned out of $7,200 by a Florida-based scam artist posing as the Countrywide Resolution Department, a bogus division of mortgage giant Countrywide. According to police, the couple's home was in foreclosure when the scam artist sent the couple a letter telling them that if they paid off the amount listed, their loan would be reinstated. The couple paid the money and soon learned the company was fraudulent.

A diner left without paying a $36 dinner bill at a restaurant in the 1600 block of E. Daily Drive on Oct. 13.

Over $12,000 in DJ equipment was stolen from an unlocked car parked in the 4800 block of Adohr Lane sometime between Oct. 14 and 15.

Vandals drove a car over the lawn of a city park in the 800 block of Vista Coto Verde and caused about $100 sometime between Oct. 14 and 16.

A thief entered an unlocked home in the 1000 block of Bollin Street and stole a $500 laptop computer on Oct. 15 sometime between 7:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

A thief stole a camera, the vehicle registration and the CD collection from an unlocked car parked in the open garage of a home in the 3300 block of Shadetree Way on Oct. 15 or 16. The thief also stole the victim's mountain bike from the garage.

Someone broke into the bedroom of a home in the 1700 block of Lewis Road and stole a lockbox with about $460 and a number of personal documents sometime between Oct. 15 and 16.

A 19-year-old woman was arrested Oct. 16 in the 100 block of Calle La Guerra on vandalism charges for allegedly causing less than $400 in damages to property in the 800 block of Vista Coto Verde.

A purse was stolen from the Chevron gas station in the 4800 block of Santa Rosa Road between Oct. 16 and 17.

A shoplifter walked into the Puma Outlet Store, 609 E. Ventura Blvd., on Oct. 17 and exchanged the shoes he was wearing with a new pair of shoes. The man then allegedly left the store without paying for the new shoes.

An undisclosed amount of property was stolen from an unlocked car parked in the 400 block of Madreselva Court sometime on Oct. 17 or 18.

Vandals caused less than $400 in damages to a car parked in the 2000 block of Jose Avenue sometime between Oct. 17 and 18.

A 41yearold woman and 25year-old were arrested Oct. 18 at the Kmart store, 940 Arneill Road, on charges of petty theft for allegedly trying to steal $209 in cosmetics and other merchandise from the store.

Two men, who police said are reportedly known by the victims, allegedly kicked in the door of a home in the 1200 block of Calle Aurora sometime between Oct. 18 and 19 and stole an undisclosed amount of tools. The men have not been arrested.

About $530 in property was stolen from an unlocked car parked in the 1900 block of Munson Street sometime between Oct. 18 and 19.

Vandals used a rock to smash the window of a car parked in the 4100 block of Raytheon Road sometime between Oct. 18 and 19.

A $1,200 computer was stolen from the community computer room at Leisure Village, 200 W. Leisure Village Road, between Oct. 18 and 20.

Thieves stole an undisclosed amount of office equipment from an unlocked business in the 400 block of Mobil Avenue on Oct. 19 or 20.

A 25-year-old man was arrested Oct. 20 on multiple burglary charges for allegedly trying to shoplift merchandise from the Target store, 209 W. Ventura Blvd.

A 39-year-old woman was arrested Oct. 20 for allegedly trying to shoplift $354 in merchandise from the Target store, 209 W. Ventura Blvd.

A thief stole about $560 in property from two unlocked cars parked in the 800 block of Calle La Prada sometime between Oct. 20 and 21.

Two men, ages 33 and 35, were arrested Oct. 21 for allegedly trying to shoplift an undisclosed amount of merchandise from the Target store, 209 W. Ventura Blvd.

A car parked in the 200 block of West Ventura Boulevard was burglarized Oct. 21. The faceplate of the car's stereo was taken.

A car parked near the intersection of Rosewood Avenue and Ponderosa Drive was burglarized Oct. 22. An undisclosed amount of property was taken.

Between Oct. 16 and 21, police reported arresting 17 people for driving without a license or driving with a suspended license. During that same time period, five people were arrested for driving under the influence of a controlled substance and five were arrested on various drug charges.
