Book club welcomes all faiths

An interfaith book group for women will resume meeting from 7 to 8 p.m. Mon, Nov. 12 in Howald Parlor, Camarillo United Methodist Church, 291 Anacapa Drive. There is no charge to attend.

The group will discuss the book "My Grandfather's Blessings: Stories of Strength, Refuge, and Belonging" by Dr. Rachel Naomi Remen for three consecutive Mondays.

"Dr. Remen pioneered the recognition of 'the role of the spirit in health and recovery from illnesses in western medicine,'" said Meenal Kelkar, discussion leader. "In this book, Dr. Remen shares her perspective on seeing the blessing that exists in both the mundane and challenging aspects of life."

Kelkar, owner of Integrative InSight, teaches meditation classes at the church and at the Camarillo Health Care District.
