Letter I read this excellent paper every week, but rarely hear mention of our elected U.S. 24th District Congressman Elton Gallegly. To me, the voting record of our one representative in Congress would be front-page news, especially this time around. A historic chance to promote the future of our country by investing in the health of its children was killed, not once, but twice by Gallegly. He voted it down initially but it passed, thankfully. Of course, it was vetoed by President Bush, whose humanitarianism speaks for itself. Then Gallegly killed it again when Congress sought to make the bill veto-proof.
Only 14 more votes were needed to override our president's veto. It makes me sad to the bones to have to accept living in a community as rich as Camarillo that, for the record, supports war, death, chaos and destruction on every level, as proven by our district's voting record, yet will not make an investment in the health of our children and thus, the health of our nation's future.
