Hospital's seminar to focus on vision options

Community Memorial Health System will hold a free seminar from 6 to 8 p.m. Tues., Oct. 30 in the eighth-floor Nichols Auditorium at Community Memorial Hospital, 147 Brent St. in Ventura.

The public is invited to learn more about the causes behind common vision disorders in addition to the latest treatment options to reduce the need for glasses and contact lenses.

Dr. Paul Dougherty, a vision correction surgeon, will lead the seminar. Dougherty will cover all major forms of laser vision correction, including LASIK and photorefractive keratectomy. He also will discuss advances in implantable contact lenses.

Dougherty is medical director of Camarillo-based Dougherty Laser Vision and is on the clinical faculty at UCLA's Jules Stein Eye Institute. He is an active member of the Community Memorial Hospital Medical Staff.
