ACHS, Rio Mesa football teams at home tonight What will Camarillo High senior quarterback Marcus Sanchez do for an encore? Find out tonight when the Scorpions (32) host Channel Islands (05) at 7 p.m. in the teams' Pacific View League opener. In leading his squad to a 3026 come-from-behind victory over Oak Park High last weekend, Sanchez set the school's single-game passing yardage record. Sanchez completed 23-of-31 passes for 372 yards and four touchdowns, including the game-winning 14-yard strike to wideout Anthony Pinedo with less than a minute to play. Camarillo graduate Joe Borchard, who now plays major league baseball, was the previous record holder. In other local action, Rio Mesa High (2-3) opens its PVL schedule at home against Pacifica (2-3) at 7 p.m. The Spartans will again be without starting quarterback Matt DeLosSantos after the senior suffered an injured spleen two weeks ago against Nordhoff. Junior Chase Perham started against Dos Pueblos last week, completing 8-of-15 passes for 187 yards and two touchdowns. |
