Religious conference open to the public

Camarillo United Methodist Church will present the third Religious Dimensions Conference, "Religion in the Public Square," at 6 p.m. Mon., Oct. 29 in Brooks Hall at the church, 291 Anacapa Drive, Camarillo.

The conference is open to the public. The $10 per person charge includes a box dinner and handouts.

Speakers will be the Rev. Jim DeckerMahin, senior pastor, and Bill Garlington, adult and youth coordinator, both at the Methodist Church. Small group discussions will follow their talks.

Decker-Mahin will discuss problematic features of religion and politics and suggest ways to transform both. Garlington will speak on the "Intentions of the Founding Fathers" and "Interpreting the First Amendment."
