Simi shooting leaves 2 dead, 2 injured

      The motive in a shooting rampage that left two people dead and two injured on Tuesday morning is still unclear, Simi Valley police said Thursday. Susan Sutcliffe, 53, was fatally shot while waiting for service at Tire Pros at 4386 E. Los Angeles Ave.

Women, girls receive grants
      The Ventura County Community Foundation has awarded eight grants totaling $60,000 to programs for women and girls in Ventura County. The Women's Legacy Fund, an endowed grant-making fund at the foundation, has a goal of improving opportunities for women and girls in Ventura County.

Moorpark Mammoth makes final trek to Santa Barbara Museum

      The Moorpark mammoth, unearthed at a construction site in the Moorpark Highlands in March 2005, was being stored until this week at the Paleo Environmental Associates warehouse lab in Santa Ana. Scientists there have confirmed it is indeed a rare find.
