False alarms cost business owners Commercial businesses with alarm systems must have alarm permits authorized by the Camarillo Police Department. There is no fee for the permit. Businesses that do not apply for the permit could be fined $75. If a deputy responds to a call that turns out to be a false alarm, the officer will file an Alarm Card, leaving a copy of it at the business. If a company has more than three false alarms in a 12month period, a letter of violation will be sent. A fourth violation will result in a $100 fine; more than four will incur a fine of $150 for each violation. Other fees will be $75 each for appeal or hearing fee, no alarm permit on file, failure to respond to police request within 30 minutes, improper use of alarm and failure to update alarm permit. For more information or a copy of the alarm ordinance, call Sgt. Eric Dowd, alarm coordinator, at (805) 388-5135. |
