Depalma double skips on bill

A man who identified himself as filmmaker Brian Depalma and was arrested on Sunday for failing to pay a $10 restaurant tab is not legendary filmmaker Brian De Palma, police confirmed earlier this week.

Police said the 43-year-old Depalma of El Segundo ordered a meal at Denny's Restaurant in Camarillo but left without paying the bill. He was cited and released.

"He is not the same man," Camarillo police Sgt. John Franchi said, referring to famous director Brian De Palma.

Franchi said a restaurant employee reported the lesser-known Depalma had allegedly left the restaurant once before without paying.

Brian De Palma, who directed "Scarface" and "The Untouchables," is 67.
