Center to accept electronic waste A free ewaste dropoff recycling event will take place from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 28 to 30 at Camarillo Community Center, 1605 Burnley St. No appointment is necessary. Televisions, computer monitors and other electronic items should not be disposed of in landfills because circuit boards, batteries and cathode ray tubes may contain hazardous materials, such as lead, mercury or chromium. If improperly handled or disposed of, the toxins can be released into the environment. The following items will be accepted: televisions, computer monitors, computers, printers, VCRs, DVD players, stereos, radios, cellphones, scanners, keyboards, copy machines and fax machines. Items not accepted include household and commercial appliances such as refrigerators, microwaves, washers, dryers or any hazardous waste material.
