Local student named scholar
Corey Quin, a biology major from Camarillo, was one of 20 students named as a Presidential Scholar at the start of the 200708 academic year at California Lutheran University.

The students receive scholarships ranging from $14,500 to full tuition for four years.

The program, established by the university in 1997, recognizes incoming freshmen of outstanding academic caliber who embody the school's educational and social goals.

The recipients have an average high school grade point average of 4.27 and average scores of 1,325 on the critical reading and math sections of the SAT or 29 on the ACT.
