Hold'em poker tournament in need of sponsors

A limited number of sponsorships are available for the inaugural Texas Hold 'Em Poker Tournament, a fundraiser for the Kiwanis of Thousand Oaks Foundation. The event will be Sun., Nov. 11 at Borderline Bar & Grill, 99 Rolling Oaks Drive in Thousand Oaks.

All sponsors will have their name on a table and be listed in the program.

Silver table sponsors, which get their name on a poker table, are $300 each. Casino table sponsors, which get their name on a casino table, are $200 each. The sponsorship cost includes one admission ticket valued at $30 that includes the buffet dinner, and $300 in nonpoker casino "funny money" that can be used on black jack and roulette tables.

For information, call Lois CurranKlein at (805) 496-1904 or send an e-mail to LCKEnterprises@aol.com.

Registration and poker lessons begin at 4 p.m. The poker tournament begins at 5 p.m., and dinner is at 6. Early registration is $30; otherwise it's $35 at the door. The buy-in cost for poker is $150, which gets the participant $10,000 in poker chip "play dough." Prizes will be awarded to the top finishers.

An auction is also planned, and donations are needed, especially for vacation packages, golf outings, sports and amusement events, theater and concert tickets, memorabilia, jewelry and accessories. Curran-Klein is also the person to contact to make donations.

Proceeds from the tournament and auction will help youth organizations and other causes supported by the Kiwanis Club of Thousand Oaks.
