Invitation to learn about centuries-old Divine Liturgy

St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Christian Church invites the community to a special "Learning Liturgy" at 9:30 a.m. Sun., Sept. 9 at the church, 400 Skyway Drive, Camarillo, inside the airport. Visitors are encouraged to attend.

During the service, The Rev. Gary Kyriacou will turn the altar to face the congregation in order to explain the actions of the service and clarify details for the congregation and visitors. Kyriacou will explain the historical development of the Divine Liturgy.

The service is conducted in English and sprinkled with Greek.

The centuries-old religious service called the Divine Liturgy (known by Roman Catholics as the Mass) recalls the preaching, teaching, and resurrection of Christ and is conducted every Sunday morning in Orthodox Christian Churches for more than 6 million parishioners in the Americas.
