New officers for Lions The Camarillo-Somis Pleasant Valley Lions Club, known as the "Big Red One," installed its 2007-08 officers and directors at a June dinner and awards ceremony at the banquet facility in Camarillo. District Governor Jeff Roundy of the Ventura Downtown Club installed Tom Blattel as president for the next year. Also installed were Joe Hohenwarter, secretary; Jack Eberts, treasurer; John Knittle, first vice president; Rich Cervantes, second vice president; Bob Taylor, third vice president; John Fortner and Art Mansfield, tail twisters; Chuck Heinrich and Don Mingay, lion tamers. Also, Dan True, Steve Sitko, Gary Gillespie and Gino Gellanina, second-year directors; Russ White, George Graham, Bill Schulz and G.K. Smith, first-year directors; and Jerry Ahara, membership chair. Among the awards presented were Melvin Jones (founder of the Lions Club International) Fellowships awarded to Lions past president Mike Brown and John Fortner. | |||||
