Sheriff's sergeant crashes truck, arrested for DUI Kenneth Bailey, a 50-year-old Ventura resident, was arrested Sun., Aug. 19 on drunk driving charges when his Dodge Charger overturned and collided with a tree on Upland Road near San Onofre Drive in Camarillo, police said. Bailey's 45-year-old wife, Mechelle, was a passenger in the truck, according to a Sheriff's department press release. She sustained minor injuries to her forehead, police said, and was taken to St. John's Pleasant Valley Hospital for treatment. Bailey, a sergeant with the Ventura County Sheriff's Department, was reportedly driving westbound on Upland Road at speeds of nearly 70 miles per hour when he lost control of his truck and crashed into the tree around 12:40 a.m. last Sunday. Capt. Jerry Hernandez, a Sheriff's department spokesperson, said Bailey is currently on administrative leave and is due in Ventura County Superior Court Oct. 23 for arraignment. - Daniel Wolowicz |
