Long to seek reelection Ventura County Supervisor Kathy Long confirmed yesterday she will seek reelection for a fourth term. A Camarillo resident, Long represents the third district. The district's boundaries include Camarillo, California State University Channel Islands, Port Hueneme, southeast Oxnard, the east Oxnard plain, Santa Paula, Fillmore, Piru, Lockwood Valley and the eastern portion of Naval Base Ventura County Port Hueneme. Long said she has already begun to collect funds and has filed her paperwork to retain her seat on the county board. According to Long, she will officially announce her bid for reelection on Sept. 13 at a campaign kickoff party. If reelected, Long said, she plans to continue her work on a 10-year plan to end homelessness in Ventura County. Long, a Michigan native, graduated from Eastern Michigan University in 1972 and moved to Camarillo in 1988, according to her website. She worked as an administrative assistant to then County Supervisor Maggie Kildee. Following Kildee's retirement in 1997, Long was elected as the third district supervisor. - Daniel Wolowicz |
